Hildegard of Bingen Nerve cookies

The nerve cookies or energy cookies according to Hildegard of Bingen are a healthy snack for in between. They have a nerve-strengthening effect, increase the ability to concentrate and generally have a detoxifying effect. However, you should not treat yourself to more than six cookies per day, because they are considered remedies by Hildegard of Bingen.

Nerve cookies or spice cookie recipe

750 g fine Spelt flour
250 g Spelt meal
500 g butter
300 g raw cane sugar
4 – 5 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1 packet of tartar baking powder
50 g powdered spice cookie mixture
Donated almonds

Here’s the thing: Quickly knead the ingredients into a shortcrust pastry and leave them in the fridge for an hour. Knead again briefly, roll out thinly, cut out small diamonds with a pastry wheel. Brush with egg whites, place one almond stick in the middle and bake on a greased tray for about 8 minutes at 180 degrees. The ingredients for the recipe can easily be found in our online store. Simply mix the dry ingredients with the moist ones as described in the instructions and you will be able to conjure up this delicious small pastry.
